Screenclaim Data Retention Policy
Last Updated: February 24, 2026
At Screenclaim, we believe that your data shouldn't live on our servers forever. To protect your privacy, keep our application running at peak performance, and minimize our data footprint, we enforce a strict, automated data retention lifecycle.
1. What We Store and For How Long
When you send or receive an image through Screenclaim, we temporarily store the following on our secure servers:
- Image Files: The actual media files sent between users.
- Claim Data: The metadata associated with the interaction (e.g., timestamps, sender/receiver IDs).
Retention Period: We retain this data on our active servers for a maximum of one year (365 days) from the date it was created.
2. Automated Data Deletion
We do not manually delete your files. Instead, our database and storage systems use automated Time-To-Live (TTL) protocols. The exact moment an image or claim record crosses the 365-day mark, it is permanently and irreversibly purged from our active database and server storage.
Once this automated deletion occurs, the image link will break, and the media cannot be recovered by you, other users, or our team.
3. Server Storage vs. Local Device Storage
Please note that Screenclaim's retention policy only applies to the data stored on our remote servers.
- When an image is successfully set as your wallpaper, your phone’s operating system may cache or save a local copy of that image directly to your device's internal storage.
- Screenclaim does not have the ability to automatically delete files saved locally by your device's operating system. If you wish to remove an old wallpaper from your phone, you must do so manually through your device settings.
4. System Backups
To protect against catastrophic hardware failures, we maintain encrypted, rolling backups of our active database.
- These backups are strictly for disaster recovery and are never used to restore individual deleted user files.
- Our backups operate on a highly restricted rolling window (retained for no more than a few days). When an image is purged from our active servers after 365 days, it will also naturally age out and be permanently destroyed from our encrypted backups within a matter of days.
5. Your Right to Early Deletion
You do not have to wait a year for your data to be removed. If you choose to delete your account or manually remove a claim within the Screenclaim app, the associated data will be immediately queued for deletion from our active servers, long before the 365-day automated threshold.
